07 WORKS

Kits, a series of six fiberglass figures created between 1992 and 1995, presents archetypal characters — Jesus Christ, Adam, Eve, Dead Raped Woman, Curator and Artist — each cast at near-life scale (around 220 × 200 × 28 cm). Several pieces were later re-cast in bronze composite; works from the series are held by Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, Olomouc Museum of Art, and private collections in the United States and Greece.

The series debuted at "Artificial" in Václav Špála Gallery, Prague (1993) and traveled extensively through the 1990s — Ronald Feldman Fine Arts (NYC, 1994), the 22nd São Paulo Biennial (1994), and the four-city Beyond Belief tour (Chicago, Philadelphia, Oberlin, Omaha, 1995–1997). Later showings include Rudolfinum Gallery (2010), Olomouc Museum of Art (2013), and NordArt in Rendsburg (2017).

"They are archetypes, human roles in today’s world. I’ll keep the traits to myself. An artwork isn’t a joke; it makes an impression on several levels at once. These are normally modeled statues, but just dismantled ones. The viewer has to guess if it is or isn’t the final form of the statue. What would happen if they assembled the figure at home … "
